Barbara S. and Charles R. Clark Medical Student Scholarship
This award was established through the University of Iowa Foundation in 2003 in honor of Barbara and Charles Clark of Iowa City. Barbara S. Clark is a native Iowan who grew up on a farm south of Iowa City in Riverside, Iowa. Charles R. Clark accomplished his undergraduate work at the University of Notre Dame, his medical training at the University of Michigan Medical School, and his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Yale University. Dr. Clark is the Michael Bonfiglio Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. He holds a joint appointment in the University of Iowa College of Engineering.
Both Barbara and Charles have a real desire to further the education of medical students. Dr. Clark served on the UI medical school admissions committee for 10 years and has directed the medical student training program for the University of Iowa Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation since 1981.
