Drs. Richard G. and Nancy A. Lynch Global Medical Education Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2009 by Dr. Nancy Lynch (1987, M.S., Civil and Environmental Engineering; 1990, Ph.D., Civil and Environmental Engineering) in memory of her husband, Richard G. Lynch, M.D. Dr. Richard Lynch held the position of Chairman of the UI Department of Pathology from 1981 to 1999, and served as the Interim Dean of the College of Medicine from
1993 to1994. Dr. Lynch retired as Professor Emeritus of the Department of Pathology in 2004.
The Drs. Richard G. and Nancy A. Lynch Global Medical Scholarship will support one or more annual scholarships in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine who are willing to commit to a project lasting as least four weeks and who are in need of financial support. The fund will assist students who plan to engage in a clinically focused, community-based medical experience involving hands-on work with underserved populations outside of the U.S. and Canada. It is the intent of the donor that students will learn to appreciate the strengths and assets of the culture they are visiting, while working with caregivers and educators who can help them to identify cultural, social, and medical problems that impact healthcare.
Congratulations on receiving the Drs. Richard G. and Nancy A. Lynch Global Medical Education Scholarship
