Harold Jaffe and Jeanne Jaggard Medical Scholarship
Harold Jaffe was raised in New Jersey. Jeanne Jaggard grew up in the African Congo. Â A twist of fate brought them together at The University of Iowa.
Dr. Jaffe did his undergraduate work at Bowling Green State University. He enrolled in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and received his M.D. degree in 1956. During his residency, he met Dr. Jaggard, a first-year medical student, who worked as a nurse for 10 years before deciding to become a physician. She graduated from the UI with her M.D. degree in 1960.
Training complete, the couple settled in Passaic, New Jersey, where they practiced for more than 25 years. Dr. Jaffe was a urologist, and Dr. Jaggard was an anesthesiologist. Post-retirement the couple enjoyed traveling, collecting art, following Hawkeye athletics, and giving to important causes. Â Dr. Jaffe passed away in 2011. Â Dr. Jaggard continues to make annual visits to campus.
Committed philanthropists, Dr. Jaffe and Dr. Jaggard created a scholarship fund to help UI medical students achieve their goals and dreams. The couple’s generosity is an investment in the doctors of tomorrow and in the UI college that brought the two physicians together.
Congratulations on receiving the Harold Jaffe and Jeanne Jaggard Medical Scholarship
