Isaac J. and Fannie Mae Wallerstein Award
This fund was established in 1988 through a $25,000 estate gift from Robert J. Mandelbaum of Des Moines, as a memorial to his aunt and uncle, Fannie Mae and Issac J. Wallerstein. Now through the University of Iowa Foundation, the fund provides four annual fellowships or scholarships for students in the University of Iowa’s Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.
Robert J. Mandelbaum was a retired stockbroker for the Norman Conway Company in Des Moines, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and later taught in the Des Moines public schools. He died on June 7, 1987.
Although he was not a University of Iowa graduate, Robert Mandelbaum’s generosity has ensured that he will be remembered as a friend of the University and of the many grateful students who will benefit from his thoughtful bequest.
Congratulations on receiving the Isaac J. and Fannie Mae Wallerstein Award
