John S. Nicknish Memorial Scholarship
John Stephen “Steve” Nicknish earned his B.S. degree from Notre Dame University in 1982, and enrolled in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine soon thereafter. During his third year in medical school, Steve died after an accidental fall while camping near Elkader, Iowa.
His parents, Dr. Thomas R. and Barbara Krage Nicknish of Iowa City, established this scholarship in loving memory of their son. Since the scholarship was established through the University of Iowa Foundation in 1986, the gifts donated to this account by Steve’s friends, family, and classmates have provided scholarships for medical students in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.
As you establish yourself as a medical professional during the next few years, the Nicknish family wants to encourage you to remember the discipline and dedication it took to earn your medical degree. They hope that you will help keep the memory of their son alive by contributing to the John S. Nicknish Memorial Scholarship Fund and enriching the experience of medical students for years to come.
Congratulations on receiving the John S. Nicknish Memorial Scholarship
