Kugler Family Scholarship
Though John W. and Rebecca S. Kugler have moved on from their alma mater, these two University of Iowa graduates still describe themselves as faithful Iowa Hawkeyes. This UI loyalty is what inspired the Peoria, Illinois, residents to generously establish the Kugler Family Scholarship Fund in the University Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.
Dr. John Kugler, who graduated from Iowa with a B.S. degree in 1971, went on to graduate with distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He returned to the UI to complete a residency in internal medicine in 1981 and a fellowship in oncology-hematology in 1984. Rebecca Kugler completed a UI certificate in radiology in 1970 and worked in the Cardiac Cath Lab at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1979 to 1984.
The Kuglers moved to Peoria, Illinois, in 1984, where Dr. Kugler went into private practice with Oncology/Hematology Associates of Central Illinois. The couple has three children: Nathan, Erin, and Tyler. Dr. Kugler and Rebecca hope their family’s gift for scholarships will make a difference for generations of UI medical students to come.
Congratulations on receiving the Kugler Family Scholarship
