Woodrow W. and Inabelle Morris Scholarship
This fund was created in 1994 as a result of a generous gift from Dr. Woodrow “Woody” and Mrs. Inabelle Morris.
Dr. Morris was a longtime faculty member at the University of Iowa. In addition to faculty appointments in medicine, nursing, and social work, he served as an associate dean in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and directed the UI’s former Institute of Gerontology. He was an active mentor for medical students during his tenure.
Dr. Morris experienced financial difficulties during his own graduate school experience and believed that students should be given the opportunity to “focus on their education rather than their debt.” Dr. Morris hoped that recipients will show their gratitude by “giving back” to the college in the future.
The couple also established a professorship in gerontological nursing. Mrs. Morris, a 1928 graduate of Michigan State University, passed away in September 1997.
Congratulations on receiving the Woodrow W. and Inabelle Morris Scholarship
