The ASOON Scholarship was established in 1995 by a group of nurses from the class of 1957 who formed lifelong friendships during their days as students at the University of Iowa. ASOON—which stands for the American Society of Old Nurses—has traveled the world together and remained in close touch since graduation.
When the group’s dear friend, Harriete L. (Brody) Verhille, passed away in 1995 the members and their spouses joined together to establish a scholarship in her memory. What began as a simple way to stay connected with their classmates has evolved into a legacy of investing in quality nursing education.
The following individuals and/or their spouses have made gifts in support of the ASOON Scholarship: Jean R. (Rinker) Fuller, Karen E. (Robertson) Klontz, Jane Eloise (Weir) Ramseyer, Virginia K. (Taylor) Sherk, Betty Lou (Boyer) Verhille, and Harriete L. (Brody) Verhille.
This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student in the UI College of Nursing based on financial need, academic merit, leadership skills and professional promise.
Congratulations on receiving the ASOON Scholarship
