Lynette Marshall, President and CEO

Lynette Marshall

Lynette Marshall is proud to serve as president and CEO of the University of Iowa Center for Advancement, an organization that combines two longstanding institutions—the foundation and the alumni association—and promotes their shared mission of advancing the University of Iowa.

During Marshall’s more than a decade of service at Iowa, the UI Foundation experienced record performance and growth and has become a national leader in creating a campus culture of philanthropy. In 2016, the UI completed For Iowa. Forever More., the largest fundraising campaign in the history of university and the state of Iowa, raising more than $1.975 billion and exceeding the initial goal by $275 million.

Now, as she leads the new UI Center for Advancement, Marshall will focus efforts to serve all 270,000+ alumni, as well as the UI’s many donors, patients, fans, and friends who are scattered around the globe.

Marshall provides leadership to several national organizations, including the Association of Governing Boards, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and she currently serves as dean of the Big Ten Fundraisers Institute (BTFRI). She was honored with the 2017 CASE Commonfund Fund Institutionally Related Foundation Award, which recognizes individuals who have made valuable contributions to the field through best practices, distinguished service, and volunteer leadership.

Marshall grew up on a fifth-generation family farm near Peoria, Illinois, and is an alumna of the University of Illinois, where she went on to become a long-time fundraising professional. She and her husband, Jeffery Ford, have two adult children, Michael and Katharine.
