Louis Goldberg Memorial Student Aid Award
Louis Goldberg was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine in 1936, he was a distinguished flight surgeon during World War II, and he returned to his hometown after the war. Held in high esteem by his colleagues, he practiced in Des Moines for more than 30 years. At the time of his death in 1975, he had many patients under his care and had delivered more than 1,000 babies.
To honor this dedicated doctor, his wife, Dorothy, and his friends created the Louis Goldberg Memorial Student Aid Fund. “He always encouraged many students to take up careers in medicine,” said Dorothy.
Thanks to her generosity, the spirit of Dr. Goldberg endures so that future generations of physicians will be inspired by his legacy.
Congratulations on receiving the Louis Goldberg Memorial Student Aid Award
