You and your family are invited to join us for a special celebration in honor of University of Iowa Dance Marathon’s 25th anniversary!
It doesn’t matter where you live, when you last participated in Dance Marathon, or whether your family has grown—we want you to come back to campus to experience the electric atmosphere of Big Event weekend!
We now have more than 2,500 dancers and 800 Dance Marathon families, and we want to recognize those of you who’ve helped get us get where we are today! We have a great mix of dedicated activities planned for you and your family, including a special Silver Year Celebration event in the Kinnick Press Box and a chance for to dance in the Main Lounge and relive the glory days! We’ll also have representatives from some of our biggest Dance Marathon-funded projects on hand to share updates and information with you.

Book Your Hotel by Dec. 31, 2018
For $79/night, you and your family can stay at the Hampton Inn in Iowa City if you book by the Dec. 31 deadline. We have reserved a block of rooms, and the rate includes free breakfast and pool access (great for the kids). The hotel is in close proximity to the Iowa Memorial Union.
To reserve a room:
- Visit the Hampton Inn website.
- On the left-hand side, underneath the Hampton Logo, type in “Iowa City, IA” and your dates. Special rates apply for Friday and Saturday.
- Before clicking “Find It,” click “Add special rate codes” and type “UDM” under “Group Code.” (The code is “UDM,” not “UIDM”).
- Select “Hampton Inn Iowa City / University Area”. Be sure the rate is $79, so you know that the discount was applied.
- Complete the booking steps.
Share Your Story by Jan. 7, 2019
There are more than 13,000 UI Dance Marathon alumni, and we want to hear from each of you! You have the chance to share a short video clip about your own Dance Marathon experience. Our students will put these clips together into a montage that connects each hour of the Big Event with the graduates who were involved in that hour’s corresponding year (e.g., hour seven = Dance Marathon seven, hour 23 = Dance Marathon 23).
To be part of this video tribute, follow these guidelines:
- Format: mp4. mov. (If shot on a phone, make sure it is horizontally recorded.)
- Length: 10-30 seconds
- Deadline: Jan. 7, 2019
- Content: Name, Year in Dance Marathon, Dance Marathon Highlight

History Highlight
Since late August, we’ve been counting down the weeks to the Big Event by sharing a unique story from every Dance Marathon year. To read the stories from Dance Marathon nine through Dance Marathon 24, visit the History and Tradition page and click on each year’s shirt image. We will be sharing the Dance Marathon eight story on Dec. 12 (eight weeks out) and continuing the weekly countdown until Jan. 30 (Big Event week).
