European Resident Rights Under GDPR


Under the General Data Protection Regulation, European Residents whose personal information the University of Iowa Center for Advancement processes have the following rights with respect to this data:

  1. The right to request access to their personal data held by the UI Center for Advancement.
  2. The right to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data rectified or erased.
  3. The right to restrict processing of their personal data in certain situations such as the sending and receipt of direct marketing material or automated decision-making without human intervention in certain circumstances.
  4. The right to withdraw consent in those circumstances where the UI Center for Advancement’s processing of personal information is based on the consent of the person whose data is at issue.
  5. The right to report a concern regarding the UI Center for Advancement’s processing of their personal information.
  6. The right to change their communication preferences at any time to restrict how their data is processed, or opt-out of some or all communications from the UI Center for Advancement.
