Recognition Societies

The University of Iowa Center for Advancement offers a variety of recognition opportunities for generous donors who support UI people and programs.

The Presidents Club

Founded in 1967, the Presidents Club permanently recognizes those who make an outright gift, deferred gift, or multi-year pledge commitment of $40,000 or more in cash, securities, or real or personal property to support any area of the university. These gifts from the UI’s most generous contributors encourage our students, inspire our faculty, expand our programs, enhance our campus environment, and advance the goals of the university and those it serves.

The 1847 Society

On February 25, 1847, only two months after Iowa was admitted to the Union, the First General Assembly established a public university in Iowa City. This commitment to higher education, like Iowa’s limestone bedrock, provides a foundation for our state’s quality of life and serves as a national symbol of excellence. Created on the sesquicentennial of the founding of the University of Iowa, the 1847 Society recognizes alumni and friends who have made provisions for a deferred gift to benefit the university.

For information on making a deferred gift, please contact the University Center for Advancement Planned Giving team at 800-648-6973.
