Microstory Contest Winner - Adult, Friend of the University (Prompt A)


It was the championship match. Silence filled the grand ballroom. Professor Smith, now emeritus, lined up his shot, hands trembling with age. Everyone knew he hadn’t played since the accident. But tonight, he played for the university, the heart of their community. The cue connected flush, the eight-ball sank with grace. Cheers erupted, echoing off the walls. Faces lit up, spectators hugged, and Professor Smith allowed himself a slight smile. He had proven that courage wasn’t the absence of fear, but playing your best despite it. In one shot, he reminded everyone that hope can always be reborn.
