New Board Member: Kristin Lee

I'm honored to be joining the UICA board. I grew up on a farm near Schleswig, Iowa, and graduated from Denison High School — going to the University of Iowa afterward is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Iowa City broadened my perspective and gave me some of my closest friendships. Between Dance Marathon and my Tri Delta sisters, I learned what it meant to lead, to show up for other people, and to have a genuinely good time doing it. The professors and fellow students at the Tippie College of Business pointed me toward a career path I didn't know existed. I spent the next two decades in the private credit and private equity investing world, most recently as a Partner at NewSpring Capital. I've stayed connected to Iowa City over the years through various events, and I am looking forward to deepening that connection through the board. Outside of work, I live in Denver with my dog Lucy, and spend my time enjoying Colorado and traveling.

Kristin Lee grew up on a farm near Schleswig, Iowa, and graduated from Denison High School. She spent more than two decades in lower-middle-market private credit and private equity investing, most recently as a Partner at NewSpring Capital, where she built the firm's presence in Chicago and later in Denver, extending the mezzanine strategy's reach into new regions. 

Before NewSpring, Kristin spent 12 years at Midwest Mezzanine Funds, structuring and underwriting subordinated debt and equity investments for lower-middle-market companies across a range of industries. She began her career in investment banking at Houlihan Lokey, working on mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy restructurings, and financial advisory engagements. Kristin received her BBA in Finance from the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Kristin lives in Denver with her dog, Lucy, and spends her time enjoying Colorado and traveling.
