1967 Service Award

Dr. Laurence C. Jones, founder and long time president of Piney Woods Country Life School in Mississippi. A graduate of the U of I in 1907, he has devoted his time to promoting broader opportunities for Negro youth in the South.

Since 1963, the University of Iowa has annually recognized accomplished alumni and friends with Distinguished Alumni Awards. Awards are presented in seven categories: Achievement, Service, Hickerson Recognition, Faculty, Staff, Recent Graduate, and Friend of the University.
